While we have updated these references wherever possible, any remaining content continues to provide relevant, valuable information for certified recovery residences in Colorado. Here you will watch all seven videos in our “So You Want to Be a Recovery Residence Owner or Operator” series, review all Certification documents, complete two brief surveys, and download your completion certificate.

Role of Recovery Allies

Alison Webb is a recovery coach, public health specialist, and certified prevention specialist who’s worked over 15 years in the field of substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery. In this course she addresses the age-old question of What Can I Do? No matter who’s asking — friend, family, neighbor, or community member — it’s good to have an answer that will stand the test of time. Alison discusses how you can serve as an ally to support recovery, recovery housing, and other supportive services that build recovery capital. As Alison says, “Most adults with substance use disorder don’t receive specialized treatment like counseling, medication, or rehab. Instead, the recovery journey starts in their communities, among family and friends, here and now, with their recovery allies.”

Peer Support and Supervisor Boundaries

Maintaining professional boundaries can be challenging, especially when working in supportive services, such as peer recovery or recovery housing. This course begins the conversation and offers tools to help you with confidentiality, boundary setting, guidelines for self-disclosure, and organizational climates to help identify, establish, and maintain healthy boundaries in professional support work. Course Objectives: Identify Confidentiality & HIPAA compliance; Define boundaries and their benefits; Discuss Guidelines for Self Disclosure; Discuss organizational co-worker boundaries.

Course/Training

First Aid for Common Household Injuries

This course will provide recovery house operators, staff, and clients with the base knowledge to respond to minor common household injuries that may occur.

Understanding the Colorado Recovery Housing Grievance Process & FAQs

The Colorado Recovery Residences complaint/grievance policy ensures a clear and transparent process for handling Complaints or Grievances submitted to CARR and that handling those grievances respectfully, appropriately, and professionally. The Formal Complaint/Grievance Procedure should be used: To resolve complaints by individuals or entities against certified recovery residence providers and their staff, owners, and operators. To provide the public with clearer information and directions for accessing this process, promote transparency, and improve user experience. To serve as a mechanism to report issues with existing CARR policy that certified recovery residences, stakeholders, and other state agencies believe should be examined prior to the next scheduled annual policy review meeting. Effective recovery staff enhances community culture, improves program outcomes, and implements best practices in recovery residences; allowing your program to operate efficiently and with less incidences.
